Retell AI is a platform with a lot of potential and a fantastic visual design. The interface is miles ahead of many clunky developer tools, and the menu system is logical and easy to navigate.
However, it currently falls short on the actual deployment experience. Setting up outbound campaigns is confusing, and I ran into too many errors during the testing phase.
More importantly, the "listening" capability and context retention felt weaker than competitors like VAPI in my direct comparisons. If you need a bot that follows complex instructions perfectly, you might find Retell frustrating to tune.
If you are a developer who prioritizes a clean UI and you are willing to work around some setup headaches, Retell is a solid choice. But if you need the absolute smartest AI context handling right out of the box, you might need to test it thoroughly before committing.
