Before you type 'Hello', the AI has already read a System Prompt. This is a background instruction from the developer like 'You are a helpful assistant who is concise and never uses emojis.' It sets the boundaries and tone for the entire conversation.
Why it matters
It is the primary control mechanism for developers. If an AI refuses to answer inappropriate questions or always responds in French, it's usually because of the system prompt.
