Loss Function

The mathematical 'scorecard' an AI uses during training to measure how wrong its guess was.

What it means

The Loss Function is how a model grades itself. During training, if the model guesses 'Dog' when the picture is a 'Cat', the loss function calculates a high penalty score. The model then adjusts its math to get a lower score next time.

Why it matters

It is the compass for learning. Without a well-designed loss function, the AI doesn't know what success looks like or which direction to improve.
