Deepfake

Synthetic media where a person's likeness is convincingly swapped or generated by AI.

What it means

A Deepfake is a video, image, or audio recording that has been manipulated by AI to make someone appear to say or do something they never did. The technology learns a person's face or voice to create a hyper-realistic clone.

Why it matters

While used for valid entertainment, it poses major risks for misinformation, fraud, and harassment. Being able to identify deepfakes is a crucial modern skill.
