Hi,
It's Albert.
Was talking the other day to one of my friends who is also a marketing guy. We discussed local SEO, we shared some ideas and it was great.
We both agreed on one massive thing. Ranking locally in the top 3 Google Maps results for your keyword and service is everything.
Why? Because 75% of all traffic clicks on those top 3 results. If you are not there, you are basically invisible to the vast majority of your potential customers.
The best part is that anyone can get there. It is not like the classic SEO where it takes sooooo long and requires endless patience. You just need to make and optimize your Google Business Profile.
Here are some actionables for you based on what we discussed:
First, look at the website link on your profile. Make sure the H1 title on that page clearly says what you do and where you do it. Most people completely forget about the where you do it part. They just say "Plumber" instead of "Plumber in Austin".
Second, you need specific service pages. Do not just lump everything onto one page. Give each service its own dedicated spot.
Third, you need specific location pages if you serve multiple areas.
Fourth, your address and phone number must be present on your page. They need to be exactly the same as the ones listed on your Google Business Profile. If they are not the same, Google's bots just get confused and they give up.
Now let's look at the profile itself.
You need to list all your services. A good practice is to have 30 or more listed there. But when it comes to your category, keep it incredibly simple. Only keep 1. Just the main one.
Next, you must add photos regularly. Keep the profile active. Ideally, you want to upload new photos weekly.
Then there is the topic of reviews. You need to get constant reviews. A big pile of old reviews means absolutely nothing. Someone that gets constant fresh reviews is going to outrank you very quickly. It is about steady activity.
Finally, citations matter as well. Get your business listed accurately across local directories. This is the slowest part of the process, though it's very much worth it, because nobooooody does it, nobody has the patience, and if you do have it, you're just going to win. It's that easy.
It sounds like a simple checklist because it really is. If you do these things, you will see a huge difference.
Talk soon,
Albert
